POSITION TITLE: Seif Ples Project Support Officer
POSITION LEVEL: 7/8
SALARY RANGE: $1800 - $2100 fortnight
THIS POSITION REPORTS TO: Seif Ples Deputy Centre Manager/Centre Manager and the ChildFund NZ Programme Manager.

The Ministry of Police and National Security and Correctional Service is mandated to provide safety and protection service under the amended Police Act and the Family Protection Act 2014. Seif Ples supports MPNSCS by providing quality medico-legal crisis and referral services to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. The Seif Ples project support officer is responsible for supporting the delivery of the Strengthening crisis response services for women, children and youth in Solomon Islands ChildFund grant.

Key Duties

The position assumes responsibility for project support and administration of the grant Strengthening crisis response services for women, children and youth in Solomon Islands. The position will have a close working relationship with ChildFund New Zealand Solomon Islands staff. Key duties include communications, reporting, administration and implementing awareness raising activities. This includes:

  • Responsibility for communications with ChildFund New Zealand Solomon Islands staff member
  • Project administration and supporting reporting
  • Development of case studies
  • Leading the implementation of activities in outcome 1 related to communication, helpline promotion, awareness raising and events under the guidance of the Project Coordinator.
  • Supporting the procurement of consultants
  • Other duties as requested by the project coordinator/centre manager, in accordance with the scope of this position.

The role will especially focus on outcome 1, and provide administrative support to outcome 2.

Outcome 1: Women, children and youth from urban, rural, and remote areas have the necessary information and networks to access holistic protection services

o Activities include development of a communications strategy; adding provincial services to SafeNet directory; develop plan with SafeNet on key access points for provinces, and how to ensure more accessible communications; expand free/accessible calls to the Helpline; publicity for Helpline (billboards, radio etc.)

Outcome 2: Seif Ples is equipped to deliver effective, continuous, and holistic crisis support services to survivors of violence.

o Activities include: engaging consultants for HR assessment and recommendations on staff capacity and training needs; assessment of helpline infrastructure needs and purchasing of resources; design and implement database; develop minimum standards for Helpline staff, strengthen CSG and PSEAH policies; training on holistic crisis response for Helpline staff; identify strategies to deliver specific GBV services at Seif Ples; provide critical counselling infrastructure; participatory engagement mechanism established; participate in Pacific Helpline Community of Practice facilitated by ChildFund PNG.

Key Deliverables

  1. Support the implementation work plan to be managed according to schedule, and outputs and outcomes achieved on time and within budget
  2. Regular communication with ChildFund New Zealand and quarterly reporting submitted on time and as requested

Qualifications and Capabilities

Mandatory Qualification:
3 years work experience in relevant field (project management, administration, gender, justice, social work, community development, international development)

Experiences and Capabilities:
Candidate must be well organised with high level administrative and coordination skills. Familiarity with gender concepts, clinical settings, office environment which aims to offer highest quality frontline medical and DV hotline services is desirable. Must have a valid driver’s licence.

Selection Criteria

Experience:
3 years work experience in relevant field (project management, administration, gender, justice, social work, community development, international development)

Capability and skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate activities with excellent time management skills
  • Able to communicate effectively with management and donors, including good written skills
  • Demonstrated ability to form good working relationships with other stakeholders
  • Sound knowledge of, or ability to obtain knowledge of legislation related to the Family Protection Act and Gender Based Violence (GBV).
  • Must adhere to Seif Ples values: safety, respect, confidentiality, non-discrimination.
  • Advanced level Computer skills: Microsoft word 2013, Excel 2013

Fortnightly Salary: $1800 - $2100
Annual Salary: $48,000 - $54,000
Annual leave entitlement: 36 Calendar days per annum
Other Terms and Conditions of Service relevant to this position: Leave may not be accumulated from one calendar year to another without the approval of the responsible officer under delegated power. As per contract.
