MEHRD and Cognition Education entered an agreement to strengthen Teacher and School Leader Professional Development. This includes developing a new Professional Development Framework and delivering effective training to teachers and school leaders, from 2022 to the end of 2023.
We are currently appointing 2 new positions, as Teaching & Learning (TL) Coaches, to work in a team with 18 Professional Development (PD) facilitators based across provinces, to help teachers and school leaders to improve teaching and learning in their schools.
The coaches will be based in Honiara and will work remotely with school leaders and Education Authorities (EAs), using telephone and online tools. They will make regular contact with school leaders and keep records of these communications to share with the PD team.
Coaches will follow-up on PD programs and workshops delivered in school clusters, to support progress, address challenges, and provide encouragement and guidance to teachers and leaders to implement strategies and practices provided in the PD trainings. They will ask questions to find out what’s working well and where further improvement is needed.
Following selection interviews in February, the roles will be appointed to begin at an agreed date in March through to October 31 2023. Induction and training will be provided following appointment.
