BACKGROUND
JOINING FORCES COALITION FOR ENDING VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN ChildFund NZ, Save the Children NZ (SCNZ) and Solomon Islands, and World Vision NZ (WVNZ) and Solomon Islands (WVSI) (the partners), are collaboratively delivering a program that addresses Ending Violence Against Children (EVAC) in the Solomon Islands. Jointly funded by ChildFund NZ, WVNZ, Save the Children NZ, and the NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) under the Negotiated Partnership program, the 3.5-year program (starting January 2022) will work towards creating a world free from violence for all children, where children are empowered as agents of change. In 2019, the three partner NGOs conducted a Child Protection stakeholder mapping in the Solomon Islands. This included examining the current activities in EVAC and identifying unmet needs; identifying the existing knowledge and evidence base for EVAC programming in the Solomon Islands; stakeholder contributions and their unique areas of expertise and strengths. The EVAC Coalition design was informed by the Unseen Unsafe Report; the Joining Forces Global Theory of Change (ToC and Results Framework; the EVAC Coalition Australia and New Zealand ToC; and the Solomon Islands Child Protection Stakeholders Mapping Outcomes and Recommendations Report (Kingmele, 2020). The EVAC Coalition design aligns with policy frameworks and priorities including the Sustainable Development Goals; NZ MFAT Negotiated Partnerships framework, including guidelines and strategic results framework; each of the partner organisations’ individual program designs and child protection approaches; Solomon Islands Government priorities; and the INSPIRE strategies.
