As we expand our operations into the Solomon Islands, we are looking for a skilled and experienced Operations Manager.

Position Reports to: General Manager Solomon Islands
Direct Reports: NIL
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- To oversee the operations of CMA-CGM including vessel scheduling, stowage planning and Consortia arrangements ensuring that CMA-CGM’s interests are protected.
- To ensure that the correct equipment is available at the correct place at the correct time through the effective Management of resources, control of processes, procedures and information flows and using the disciplines of: Planning, Pre-empting, Monitoring, Reporting, Mentoring and Adjusting.
- To oversee and monitor the effective management of Maintenance and Repair activites in Solomon Islands. Regularly monitoring cost development and ensuring active depot visits are promoting best practice amongst our depot providers in the processing of our equipment provision requirements.
- Responsible for monitoring and controlling voyage costs (slot costs), OPEX costs, Logistics costs.
- Manage execution of contracts with service providers and drive terminal partnership programs
- Carry out line studies for Network optimisation, business development, agility initiatives.
- Manage External and Internal relationships to ensure that Group’s interests are protected.
- Deputise for the Director of Operations as and when required.
- Emergency Officer for all ANL Fleet vessels
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION
Essential
- Master Class 1 qualifications or equivalent tertiary qualifications in Nautical Studies (to include ship stability and stress)
Preferred
- Tertiary qualifications, business studies are recommended
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Essential
- Relevant sea going experience.
- Sound practical experience in the terminal / shipboard operational aspect of the shipping industry.
Preferred
- Proficient working knowledge of statutory requirements in vessel operations in the Regional Shipping Industry.
PERSONAL SKILLS
- High degree of computer literacy and operational knowledge.
- Conceptual and analytical skills essential.
- Sound oral and written communication skills.
- Negotiation and conciliation skills.
- Ability to manage and work with a diverse work force
- Organisational skills
- Able to work under pressure, prioritize, meet deadlines, cope with changing circumstances and communicate with clients and staff
