Background:

Women's Rights Action Movement (WRAM) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 2011 with the aim of promoting gender equality and advocating for women's rights. WRAM is committed to enhancing its organizational capacity and institutional development to effectively fulfil its mission and achieve its goals. Currently governed by a board, WRAM seeks an Executive Director to provide leadership, oversee personnel, drive fundraising efforts, and ensure effective execution of organizational projects.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Executive Director (ED) will assume the following responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Provide visionary leadership to advance WRAM's mission, goals, and organizational development.
  • Develop and implement strategies and initiatives to promote gender equality and protect women's rights in alignment with WRAM's vision.
  • Collaborate with the board to establish organizational priorities, policies, and strategic plans.
  • Stay abreast of gender-related issues, trends, and best practices to inform WRAM's advocacy efforts.

Fundraising and Resource Mobilization:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure financial resources for WRAM's activities and projects.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, corporate partners, and funding agencies.
  • Prepare and submit high-quality grant proposals and funding applications.
  • Maintain effective communication with existing donors and ensure timely and accurate reporting on project outcomes.

Personnel Management:

  • Oversee and provide guidance to the Program Manager and the Senior Accountant, ensuring their effective performance and professional development.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, innovation, and accountability.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and implement appropriate training and capacity-building initiatives.

Financial Oversight:

  • Assume overall responsibility for WRAM's financial affairs, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and financial best practices.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, monitor financial performance, and ensure proper financial controls are in place.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Accountant to oversee financial transactions, reporting, and audits.
  • Review and approve financial reports, ensuring accuracy and transparency.

External Relations and Representation:

  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for WRAM, representing the organization to stakeholders, government agencies, NGOs, and the media.
  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships and collaborations with relevant organizations, institutions, and networks.
  • Engage in advocacy activities, public speaking engagements, and media interviews to promote WRAM's mission and raise awareness of women's rights issues.

Donor Engagement and relationship management

  • Lead in the engagement with donor partners ensuring all donor requirements as per the Financing agreements are fulfilled;
  • Engage proactively in donor high level meetings and other forums and ensure messaging on key issues for decision making are conveyed to the board for decision making as required
  • Ensure all key donor partners are kept abreast of any issues that may impact the implementation of activities and mitigation measures;

Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate for the Executive Director position should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • A strong commitment to gender equality and women's rights.
  • Proven experience for more than 7years in leadership and management roles within the non-profit sector or similar organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, resource mobilization, and donor relationship management.
  • Sound financial management skills, including budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning abilities.
  • Familiarity with gender issues, human rights, and development frameworks.
  • Proficiency in project management and monitoring and evaluation techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and foster collaboration.

Reporting and Accountability:
The Executive Director will report directly to the WRAM Governance Board. Regular reporting on organizational performance, fundraising activities, financial matters, and program outcomes will be required.
