Summary of Duties
The successful applicant will teach various courses in Math at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, conduct research in areas of their professional academic interest, supervise students' research projects at all levels, and carry out any other duties as delegated by the supervising
officer(s).
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out all standard duties related to teaching and learning in an academic institution. SINU requires staff in the Higher Education stream to carry a workload of, on average, 16 contact hours per week. The rest of the time is to be devoted to non-contact aspects of teaching & learning, including programmed development and reviews (estimated to average 10 hours per week), and research & publications.
- Staff in the higher education stream are expected to carry out research & publications in their fields. They are also expected to carry out approved consultancies.
- Staff in the higher education stream may participate in professional, community, and outreach activities relevant to the programmed or professional interests of the staff. Staff are also expected to participate in University-wide activities commensurate with the roles and responsibilities of an academic. Please refer to the job description for more information.
Minimum Qualification and Experience Requirements:
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- A Master’s degree in Mathematics is required.
- Preference will be given to applicants with a PhD in Mathematics over those holding only a Master’s degree.
Professional Experience
- A minimum of three years of formal tertiary teaching and research experience is required.
- Alternatively, a combination of at least three years of education and commercial experience may be considered for a lecturer-level appointment.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience in teaching or working in developing countries, along with demonstrated ability to engage with socio-cultural and political diversity.
- Proven expertise in program development and review.
- A record of publications in credible academic outlets. Please refer to the job description for more information
Terms and Conditions
This is a full-time position with a contract term of five years, renewable based on performance and mutual agreement.
