Location: Shortland Islands

Position: Full-Time, fixed-term

Reeves Envico are looking for an experienced head chef to join the team at the Western Border Outpost Project in Shortland Islands. The position offers a competitive salary with comprehensive benefits including accommodation, meals, living away allowances and regular travel back home for paid leave.

Key Responsibilities

  • Menu Planning & Preparation: Plan and prepare nutritious and varied meals daily, for a diverse, multi-cultural crew of employees and expats, while managing seasonal ingredient availability.
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee all kitchen operations, coordinating tasks, and supervising kitchen assistants.
  • Inventory & Logistics: Manage stock levels, track inventory, and minimize food waste, collaborating with logistics teams to manage supply chain
  • Hygiene & Safety: maintain strict food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards in compliance with local regulations and company policies.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all food is good quality and served in a timely manner.
  • Adaptability: Be resourceful and adapt menus or troubleshoot equipment issues to suit availability of ingredients.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Chef in a busy environment, preferably within remote camps, industrial catering, or similar high-pressure settings.
  • Relevant culinary degree or professional certification (e.g., Commercial Cookery Certificate III trade qualification) is essential.
  • Sound knowledge of food hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to prepare a wide variety of meals for both local and expatriate staff
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere and integrate well with a diverse workforce.
